Textco BioSoftware today announced that a beta release of the OSX native Gene Inspector (GI 1.6) is available for download from Textco's web site. Running on OS 10.2 and higher, the retooled GI 1.6 benefits from the new and open standard technologies that make OSX "the most stable, compatible and interoperable desktop operating system available".
The new Gene Inspector offers increased productivity to Mac users by taking advantage of the enhanced Aqua user interface, and improved system stability of OSX, as well as the new, time-saving features offered in the Panther release (10.3), such as Expose - which makes it a snap to navigate between dozens of open windows.
The new release includes revamped features offered in version 1.5 that prompted Science to state; "GI provides a friendly environment for elegantly handling the mounds of information typically gathered during sequence analysis. In contrast to programs that are designed purely for analysis (e.g. MacVector and LaserGene), GI's notebook design gives users an environment where they can better define their own custom analyses and format the results in one simple step." [Science 287:1224 (2000)].
To participate in the beta testing of Gene Inspector 1.6, please fill out the beta test form.
