For Immediate Release
Textco BioSoftware today announced that a beta release of a Windows version of Gene Inspector is now available for public download from Textco's web site. Gene Inspector, previously available for Macintosh only, has garnered numerous awards for its innovative design and has been enthusiastically reviewed. This beta release expands Gene Inspector's accessibility to molecular biologists who utilize the Windows operating system.
Gene Inspector offers a unique combination of a versatile electronic laboratory research notebook and a comprehensive sequence analysis product. By combining DNA and protein analyses with a powerful notebook, Gene Inspector provides the unique ability to keep notes and the analysis output in a single location. Gene Inspector 's 'Analysis Setups' provide a way to define an analysis (or multiple analyses) with all its parameters and to save it as a menu item for future use, enabling everyone in the group to get consistent results.
Gene Inspector for Windows includes all the features offered in the Mac version that prompted Science to state; "With Gene Inspector, users can manage sequence analysis projects from beginning to end. The unique electronic notebook format of Gene Inspector gives researchers the ability to organize diverse yet interrelated types of information. In contrast to programs that are designed purely for analysis..., GI's notebook design gives users an environment where they can better define their own custom analyses and format the results in one simple step." [Science 287:1224 (2000)].
To participate in the beta testing of Gene Inspector for Windows, please fill out the beta tester form to download the application. Gene Inspector for Windows supports Windows XP and 2000.
