One of the major mechanisms for us to know about and then create new features for our products (or new products) is through user requests. Filling out this form will let us know how we can improve our already existing products and will inform us about new products you think would be useful.

In designing and maintaining software we are often faced with decisions about what functions to add to which products and whether the additional new feature will created "bloated" software -- too many features in one program that only a handful of users will utilize. Gene Construction Kit and Gene Inspector each perform specific tasks and are designed to do those tasks well. For example, we could add analysis features to GCK or "construct" features to GI. But do you want to pay more for such a product if you will only use a fraction of the features? or would you rather have two products, each with fewer features, that you can buy for less?

When you suggest features below, please try to keep in mind the previous paragraph. Here is a brief summary of each of our products:

Gene Construction Kit®: GCK is designed to allow users to create and manipulate constructs as they would in the lab. It allows DNA manipulation without forcing the user to track underlying details and allows for the creation of figures for use in posters, papers, proposals, and other presentations. GCK is not a sequence analysis pacakge.

Gene Inspector®: GI is a combination of a sequence analysis package and an electronic lab notebook. It is desinged to perform analyses of DNA and protein sequences and facilitate the consistency of analyses in a group. GI complements GCK in functionality.
