Version 2.0.26 [April 2, 2002]
- M/W - fixed a problem that occurred sometimes when deleting a generation
- M/W - fixed a problem that caused "graying" of sequences when mixed generations were present in the same sequence view of a construct
Version 2.0.25 [March 11, 2002]
- M/W - by popuolar demand, we changed back the position markers for marked sites to the left of the actual cut site. We had switched it in version 2.0.21
Version 2.0.24 [February 10, 2002]
- M/W - fixed a problem that occured sometimes when several gel lanes were selected and deleted immediately followed by pasting in a new gel lane
Version 2.0.23 [August 3, 2001]
- W - fixed the appearance of unwanted *.frk files
- M - fixed problem with installations under OS X not recognizing CD
Version 2.0.22 [April 20, 2001]
- W - fixed a printing problem that occurred under some conditions under Windows 2000.
- M - made a minor change to be consistent with Windows version
Version 2.0.21 [March 23, 2001]
- M/W - changed position indicated for marked sites to the position just to the right of the actual cut site. This was necessary to maintain a consistent method of indicating positions other functions within GCK2.
- M/W - changed interface for placement of site markers. There is now a dialog box with an explanation instead of a menu item with two different messages that toggles.
- W - fixed a problem that made it difficult to select site markers in Windows NT4 under some conditions.
- W - fixed some drawing problems with graphical constructs in Windows 2000 (actually a workaround for a bug in Windows 2000).
Version 2.0.20 [February 9, 2001]
- W - fixed a problem that occured in marking restriction sites that occurred exclusively within a selected region - sometimes non-exclusinve sites were marked (bug introduced in 2.0.19)
- M - fixed inappropriately sized dialog box for Chronography Get Info...
- M - fixed a problem in saving preferences under OS9.x when a user is on a multiple user system as a "limited" user
- M/W - fixed a problem that occurred sometimes when importing very large GenBank files (greater than 4 million bases)
- M/W - Interface change: when showing positions by cut site for marked sites, the position indicated now shows the position of the nucleotide just to the left of the actual cut site
Version 2.0.19 [November 12, 2000]
- W - fixed a problem that that prevented printing in some configurations of Windows 2000
- M/W - fixed a problem causing a crash if view construct window, open general info window, go back to construct window and change to a sequence view, make a change, close sequence window without closing the general info window (whew!)
- M - fixed a problem saving files to a Novell Server mounted on a Mac desktop
Version 2.0.18 [August 27, 2000]
- M/W - fixed a problem that caused the number of the last nucleotide associated with a region to be off by one when exporting comments as a text file
- W - fixed a problem that led to an incorrect base change when creating a silent mutation
- M/W - fixed a problem that sometimes caused a crash with the following sequence: delete a region, undo, delete the region again
Version 2.0.17 [May 1, 2000]
- W - fixed a problem that caused base changes due to silent mutations to appear at the wrong locations under some situations
- W/M - fixed a problem that led to inaccurate reporting of results when trying to find restriciton sites that are confined to specific segments
- W/M - fixed a problem that sometimes did not allow the deletion of a generation from chronography
- M - fixed a problem that lead to invisible selections using Mac OS 9 and some newer G4s and G3s and also on some of Apple's Studio displays
- M - fixed a problem that sometimes caused a crash if one opened general info, switched from graphic to sequence view of a construct, and then closed the construct window without closing the general info window
Version 2.0.16 [Mar 8, 2000]
- W - fixed problem that did not allow selection or editing of codon tables
- W - fixed a problem that did not allow constraining dragging with shift key (creates squares and circles instead of rectangles and ellipses) in Illustration window
- W - several cosmetic problems were corrected
- M/W - fixed problem that did not allow some GenBank and EMBL files to be recognized and imported correctly
- M - fixed a problem that did not allow proper selection of a segment under some circumstances
Version 2.0.15 [Jan 3, 2000]
- fixed a problem that would not allow an open reading frame starting at the origin of a circular construct to be found under some circumstances.
Version 2.0.14 [Dec 20, 1999]
- fixed problem with importing very large (chromosome sized) GenBank files. Note that GCK2 is not designed to work with files this large, but rather is designed to handle "clonable" DNA fragments.
- fixed a problem with displaying large numbers of ORFs
- changed signature on exported files to be able to open in a text editor when double-clicked
- fixed a problem drawing the text in the Lines menu on some new G4 Macs
- under some circumstances, if you remove an unmarked site by silent mutation the program quits - this no longer happens
- fixed a problem that arises on very old Mac systems (before 7.6) that do not have Quicktime installed
- feature: added the ability to export graphics as JPEG files to keep Mac version feature compatible with the Windows version
Version 2.0.13 [Oct 22, 1999]
- fixed a problem in importing some GenBank files that had information stored in a special way
- fixed a problem that prevented the displaying of region sequences in very large constructs under some conditions
- added the ability to export graphics in JPEG format
Version 2.0.12 [Sep 9, 1999]
- Under extremely rare situations (only once in 5 years), a specific sequence segment could be duplicated when exported by the clipboard to another application. This may not have been caused by GCK but could have happened by a file error. Code is now present in GCK2 to correct this situation if it occurs.
- GCK2 file format has been updated to be more compatible with the Windows version of GCK2 to be released in December 1999. This has no effect on use of the program.
- The "Auto Arrangement Settings" menu item was not enabled for linear constructs (it worked fine for circular constructs). This is now fixed.
Version 2.0.11
- On some computer and operating system configurations, GCK2 would attach lines to all site markers at the "nearest position" even if the user selects a different attachment site. This is now fixed.
Version 2.0.10
- Under some circumstances version 2.0.9 would appear to install on the hard disk from the CD but would continue to ask for the CD during each launch. Sometimes inappropriate error messages would appear during launch. Release 2.0.10 fixes this problem. If you are not experiencing this problem, there is no need to update to 2.0.10.
